When you think of a suede jacket, the first thing that comes to mind in terms of colors is probably along the lines of camel or beige. If you’re going for a traditional look, then this is exactly what you should be in the market for. But what if you’re looking for something a little bit different? Something edgier? Well, that’s exactly what I was going for with today’s look. Suede, just like traditional leather jackets, come in an array of different colors, including black, brown, blue, red, and just about any other color you can imagine.
I picked a washed blue suede jacket for my modern interpretation of a ’70s classic. I’ve paired it with a Basquiat graphic tee from the Uniqlo/SPRZ collaboration (ON SALE!) and jersey scarf for a casual outfit that’s unique and fun. A major part of the look was in the details—graphic tee, bracelet, scarf, Stan Smiths, and rolled pants. To sneak in some character and achieve a lived-in look, remember to add some “this old thing” vibes when you’re trying to break in a new jacket.

Did you know?: Suede is leather in its more natural form. By removing leather’s top grain (the outward facing tougher part you’re probably most familiar with) a super soft, strokable nap is revealed. This is what we know as suede.
