Street-Wear: a distinctive style of street fashion. Rooted in West Coast Surf and skate culture, it has grown to encompass elements of hip-hop, Japanese street style, and modern Haute Couture fashion.
Street Style has always been a part of fashion in more ways than one. The best type of street wear is altered straight off the runway. The real runway show is on the street itself and crucial to any fashion designer. Today’s trends, fashion styles, and celebrities owe a lot of credit to Bill Cunningham. Bill puts people on the map, he captures raw and true ‘express yourself’ fashion that magazines and runway shows don’t capture. He catches people at their worse and their best. He is one of the founders of the term street-wear. Even traditional luxury brands like Chanel, Givenchy and Balenciaga have incorporated some street wear pieces into their offerings.
Every month I will report on what people are wearing on the streets of Chicago. Chicago brings the East, West, North and South together. As the weather warms up fashion becomes the center of attention. Last week I took to the streets starting in Wicker Park, the Loop, and Gold Coast and found some truly amazing outfits. We asked them if they could describe their style in 3 or more words what would it be? And this is what we found:

Trendy and pastels. I like mixing loud colors with different designs.
What is your go to Summer outfit? Boyfriend jeans and anything with a mock neck.

I like to take unique patterns and textures and make them my own. Mixing stripes with stripes is one of my favorite things to do!
What is your go to Summer outfit? Skirts and Crop Tops.

Girly and collective, I am such a girly girl, I love anything with flowers and a funky design.
