The Fourth of July not only represents a day in which we reflect on our nation’s break from the British, but it also represents a time for some summertime fun in Chicago. From rooftops, to yachts, to beaches, this weekend will call for some patriotic gear that’s both stylish and functional. If you really want to keep your cool in the heat this weekend, do like me, and rethink your hot-weather wardrobe.
With that being said, national holidays are one of my favorite excuses to dress in something a bit more daring and out of the ordinary. For this look I really wanted to incorporate red, white, and blue without looking like the American flag shirt you probably saw at Urban Outfitters. I did make a bold choice nonetheless with my bright red sports jacket, however, it’s off set with some basics like a white linen dress shirt, dark denim, and suede desert boots. I’ve added a few seasonal options including my ribbon belt that gives the look a more casual feel, wayfarers for a classic Americana vibe, and a cotton plaid tie to marry the colors together.
