Believe it or not, there once was a time when I really enjoyed playing a competitive sport…that sport being tennis. It was one of three extracurricular activities (+guitar +karate) my parents really “encouraged” to take up as a child, and of the three, none of them followed me into adulthood. It’s a shame because if I stuck with it, I’m sure I could’ve been the next Federer or Nadal.
It wasn’t until I teamed up with my friends at Finish Line did I rediscover this past interest of mine. How could I have let something I was once so fond of slip away? When I stepped on the court for this photo shoot, I felt like a baby giraffe learning how to walk for the first time (VIDEO). It was bad. However, I do have to say what I am good at is simple and rather unimpressive…dressing the part. For my tennis inspired look I chose to go with the quintessential Lacoste pique cotton polo. Designed by French tennis player René Lacoste in the early 1920s, it became popular because athletes were tired of wearing rolled up long-sleeved white button-up shirts, which was considered typical tennis apparel at the time. I’ve paired it with a chambray dot short and Lacoste shoes for an overall clean and simple look.
Well, I guess it’s time for lessons again.
