Linen suits in light, earthy colors are a great staple that will allow you to celebrate these sun-filled days of summer. Need a little styling inspo? We’ve got you covered! With so many different styling opportunities ranging from an outdoor wedding to drinks with the crew, the linen suit will keep you comfortable in the sweltering heat.
It’s going to be all about stripping down to the most breathable fabrics, all while not sacrificing an ounce of your steez. One thing you’ll need to be careful of…looking like a literal sack of potatoes. Linen is a fabric that will wrinkle and stretch out the second you put it on, so the cut and fit of the suit is everything. Below you’ll see how I styled a linen suit for three different occasions.
Look 1: Summer Wedding
Style Tip: Dressing for summer weddings can be a challenge since every type of suit isn’t appropriate for every kind of wedding. You would never want to wear a tux to a beach wedding or a seersucker suit to a black tie affair. A linen suit is a great option for a more casual ceremony and most definitely a beach wedding. Add in a floral print tie or shirt for a pop of color.
Look 2: Bringing a polo shirt from boring to banging
Style Tip: The key to nailing the suit/polo combo is pairing a lightweight and unstructured suit with a slim button-down collar polo. The button-down collar will help the shirt stay in place and keep the shirt collar upright under the suit lapels, visually framing the face.
Look 3: Summer Date Night
Style Tip: Remember that it’s supposed to look effortless. Don’t put on your fanciest linen suit for this look. Instead, opt for something that’s a bit more casual. Consistency is key here. If your t-shirt has a subtle pattern or a marled texture, GREAT!
