Americans get a major thrill from all things design that our Instagram accounts show. From clothes, food presentation, sport, art, you name it.. and now, we’re also styling our babies. But not only do modern Americans enjoy style, they also enjoy looking after the environment and being a part of the global eco-friendly movement. Diapers use is a big topic of discussion between health and environmentally conscious parents, which has resulted in several new start ups that offer eco-friendly diaper alternatives or at least toxin free options.
A traditional disposable diaper might contain chemicals that over a long term may be of harm to your child, companies such as Naty’s, Dyper, and Bamboo Nature have come up with a composition that protects your child from any possible exposure to chemicals.
In addition, there has been a surge in cloth diaper services that pick dirty or wet diapers and deliver new ones, weekly. We live in great times!
Here’s a round up of our favorite Diaper companies, sold in America.
Eco by Naty
You’ll be surprised to know that Naty is not a new brand on the block but has been around for 25 years! That certainly builds more trust and faith in their products. Their diapers are made from 100% organic and safe materials- in fact they are vegan certified. The only thing to look out for is the size. Though Naty diapers are available in different sizes, we found them to be slightly bigger, especially for a newborn baby. Thankfully, they offer a free trial box, so you can order one and if you like it, (which we think you would), you know where to shop in future.
Dyper
Eco-friendly diapers are always a dream for mamas as they claim to be of the environment. Most of them don’t hold much and either too rough or too soft. Dyper is different. It is soft yet sturdy for an active toddler. The point that makes it stand apart is of course that it takes only 75 days for these diapers to decompose. Since they are made from responsibly sourced bamboo, you can even toss them into your compost bin.
Eco Boom
Eco Boom diapers are made from completely biodegradable materials that take just about 18 months to fully decompose. The degradable bamboo material keeps the diaper breathy, dry, and super fresh. They are also quite light.
Mum & You
Nappy Chat from Mum and You are a perfect combination of conscious and comfort. You can use them for up to 12 hours without leaks. These diapers contain no chemicals and are made from natural wood pulp. The biodegradable core is light on the environment and your baby’s skin.
Seventh Generation
Made from plant based ingredients, Seventh Generation makes diapers from wood pulp– that you’ll be happy to know is sustainably sourced. The diapers are so plain jane (we mean this in the best possible way), they have no fragrance, lotions, chlorine, dyes, bleach, or latex. These are also truly leak proof, so you go through fewer diapers in a day and you and your baby can enjoy a good night’s sleep. These are also so fashionable with cute animal prints- toddlers love them!
Andy Pandy
Andy Pandy diapers are made from a combination of bamboo fiber with aloe liner that are both perfectly safe for the environment and your baby’s skin. The bamboo also prevents any kind of moisture build up so the baby can be comfortable all the time. These diapers are a 100% biodegradable and make for a good alternative to toxic diapers.
Bamboo Nature
As a conscious parent you must probably be familiar with this one! Bamboo Nature is a real favorite among parents. The diapers keep the baby’s skin dry and rash free, the leg cuffs have no latex, and our favorite quality- the diapers come with a wetness indicator so you know exactly when to change. If you have used the old Bamboo Nature diapers, getting used to the new thin ones may take some time, but these are still one of the best eco options in the market.
Coterie
Coterie diapers are soft, free from chemicals and chlorine. They contain no fragrance, latex, or dyes. In fact, their diapers can hold 25 times their weight in fluid so you don’t have to worry about leaks or blow outs. Coterie is not an eco-friendly diaper but it partners with a non profit organization, Baby2Baby where you can donate your unused diapers and has made several contributions to sustainable societies, researches and missions. Everyone leaves their carbon footprints on the planet, even babies and Coterie’s moto is to reduce them- a great idea to start early in life.
As a parent your baby is the center of your world. These brands understand and align with your thoughts all the while creating healthier, cleaner and sustainable products to help you in your parenting journey.
